Good morning. Today is Monday, May 14, 2018.

The Grove Boys traveled to Spencerville Saturday and captured their 6th Northwest Conference title in the last 7 years. The dogs used a strong last leg in the 1600 relay by Caden Watkins to squeak by Bluffton to win the meet. The dogs scored 111 points. Bluffton was runners-up with 107 points followed by Lincolnview with 106 points. The dogs were led in scoring by Dane Selby and Jon Banal. Evan Hopkins scored the only first place for the dogs in the Pole Vault. Great team effort guys and good luck this week at Districts.

In girl's track action over the weekend the lady dogs won their 5th NWC title in a row. Event winners were Erin Downing 800, Lauren Benroth 400, Kayla Reynolds high jump, Madi Maag shot and discus,Alyssa Ellerbrock 1600 and 3200, Rylee Sybert 100 and 200, Carlee McCluer 300 hurdles with a new meet record, the 4x800 relay team of Erin Downing, Taylor Ellerbrock, Lauren Benroth, and Alyssa Ellerbrock, the 4x200 team of Abby Gladwell, Bailey Dunifon, Taylor Ellerbrock, and Rylee Sybert, and the 4x400 team of Lauren Benroth, Erin Downing, Taylor Ellerbrock, and Carlee McCluer. Great job girls.

The Columbus Grove Softball team captured their 5th consecutive PCL title with a 21 to 9 win Saturday over Leipsic. The bulldogs had 26 hits and drove combined for 20 Rbi’s. The Dawgs were led by Danielle Bame who went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs including a grand slam and 8 rbi’s. Jenna Hardeman went 4 for 4. Every starter in the lineup had multiple hits. Teyah Sautter picked up her 17th win on the season pitching 7 and striking out 6. Come out Tuesday at 4:30 to watch the Lady Dawgs take on Lincolnview in the District Tournament in Elida.

Reminder that JH physicals will be held tomorrow starting at 3:00 at Grove Chiropractic. Physical forms are located on the table outside of the high school office, and must be signed by a parent before an examination can be given.

There will be a football meeting tomorrow morning during activity period in Mr. Schafer’s room. All football players playing high school football need to be there and need to get there quickly. We will be passing out our bulldog cards to sell.

Also reminder: those not currently in a spring sport, we are lifting and running after school on Tuesday Thursday and Friday.

There will be a pizza party for the junior high baseball team in the commons after school tomorrow. Be sure to bring your uniform pants to turn in at the party.

Any student council member interested in helping with the elementary field day please sign up in the high school office. The field day will be held Thursday, May 24th. This is an exam day. Before signing up please be certain that you do not have an exam scheduled for the time slot you select.

Due to AP testing, the library will be closed tomorrow morning periods 1 - 6.

There will be a Leo Club meeting tomorrow morning at 7:40 in Mrs. Birnesser’s room.

Any student planning to take the ACT test prep this summer at Columbus Grove High School, should come down to the Commons today during activity period.
