Meals Plus

Meals Plus

Meals Plus is the point of sale system that we use in our school cafeteria. The system brings a lot of great things to our district which staff, students, and parents should enjoy.

One of the biggest parts of Meals Plus is prepaying for meals. Each student is assigned a PIN which they use each day to pay for their lunch. When they type their PIN into the number pad, their picture appears on the cashier's screen along with their name, grade, and account balance. Any money that the student gives the cashier will be deposited in their account. An important note is that we do not return change with the system. This furthur facilitates speed of the lunch lines. Any overpayment will be credited to the student's Meals Plus account.

In addition to bringing money to the lunch line, money can also be deposited in a student's account online at LunchPrePay.com. With a free account you can log into the site to deposit money with a credit card. You'll have the ability to deposit money into multiple student accounts with one payment. If you choose to, you can pay just $10 a year for the enhanced account. With an enhanced account you can view account balances, view your student's 45 day meal history, and get e-mail notifications when the account is running low. To register for an account and deposit money into your student's account, you will need their district student ID. You should have received this on the letter introducing Meals Plus. If you do not have the letter and don't know your student's ID number, please call the High School or Elementary office. More information about Lunch Pre Pay can be found at the above website. A link to their website also appears on the school home page under the parents menu.

NEW - Account balance and transaction history can also be checked for free directly from the school homepage at the link titled "Meals Plus Balance." You will just need the student's district ID number and last name.

Another advantage of the system is increased confidentiality of the Free & Reduced lunch program. Students will not have to inform the cashier if they are part of the program. Their status is entered into the system ahead of time and will come up automatically when they type in their PIN. They will go through the lunch line the same way everyone else does.

FAQ

1. What happens to my student's account balance at the end of the year?
In our district, balances will carry over to the next school year, so towards the end of the year make sure your student is using the available funds in their account. Refunds will be issued to graduating students or students who transfer out of our district.

2. Am I required to use LunchPrepay.com to deposit money into my student's account?
No. You can send cash or checks in with your student just as you always have. We do recommend that you send at least money in at least a week at a time. The lunch line moves a lot quicker when everyone has money deposited into their account beforehand.

3. What information do I need to log into Lunchprepay.com?

4. Is there a fee for depositing money into my student's account on Lunchprepay.com with a credit card?
There is a 3% fee for each credit card payment on Lunchprepay.com. This is the credit card transaction fee from your card company. The school does not collect this fee, it goes directly to the card provider. This fee is only charged if you deposit money online. You can continue to send money and checks into school with your student to be placed in the lock box in the cafeteria as well.

4. I have multiple students in the school. Can I use one account for all of them to withdraw money from?
Yes. A billing account can be setup for your family. Each student will still have their own PIN that will be linked to the billing account. Meal history can still be tracked per student if you sign up for a premium account. Please contact Mr. Keehn either by e-mail or phone if you would like to setup a billing account for your students.
