Elfie and Selfie

Columbus Grove celebrated Christmas with some extra special help this year. Elfie and Selfie made their grand debut with exciting adventures and escapades daily. Each morning students searched to find Elfie and Selfie and see what mess they had left behind. Smiles and giggles were heard in the halls when students discovered the mischievous elves. The final week before Christmas break CG’s own real life elf made his appearance on the roof.

November - Attitude of Gratitude

An attitude of gratitude means creating a conscious mindset and habit to be thankful, and express appreciation for every aspect of your life, both big and small. When you have a gratitude mindset you feel more confident, positive, optimistic, happy and joyful about the things you have, and the people that matter most.

This past week 7-12 students and staff were asked to share a picture of one thing they are grateful for. The pictures were used to create a schoolwide collage for a gratitude bulletin board. Thank you to all 7-12 students and staff who shared a picture of something they are grateful for. As you walk out the doors by the student parking lot, please check out the bulletin board. Our students and staff have many things in Columbus Grove they are grateful for and appreciate. Schoolwide we had over 250 pictures submitted!

The guidance office kept track of each grade level's percentage of participation for pictures submitted. The winners of the junior high competition were the 8th graders with 83% participation.

The junior class had the highest percentage of participation with 77%, followed by the sophomores, seniors, and freshmen. November Senior in the Spotlight

FaithAndersonThe Columbus Grove High School Guidance Department will be recognizing one senior each month to spotlight. The advisers for LEO Club, Student Council, National Honor Society, Scholastic Team, and Class Officers have been asked to nominate students in their organizations that have stepped up to take a leadership role at Columbus Grove High School. In addition, the students have maintained their grades while participating in their extracurricular activities. Students will be awarded a certificate, given a small gift and recognized at the Senior Academic Awards Night in May.

Congratulations to Faith Anderson for being selected for the November Senior in the Spotlight. Faith is the daughter of Brad and Vanessa Anderson. She was nominated by the Leo Club advisor, Mrs. Birnesser, for volunteering and organizing the Leo Club truck for the homecoming parade. She is an outstanding student academically, maintaining a 3.955 GPA in her high school coursework. She is active in Bulldog athletics, where she is a 3-year varsity member in track and field. Faith has had an outstanding track and field career winning scholar athlete once, qualifying for regionals in discus, and being a state qualifier in indoor track and field twice. Faith is very active in the school and the community as well. She participates in Leo Club, National Honor Society, and All County Choir.

Faith is a kind, considerate young woman who is a positive role model for students at Columbus Grove. The Columbus Grove High School staff is pleased to award the November Senior in the Spotlight to Faith Anderson.

After graduation, Faith plans to attend college to study Sports Management.

Football Throw Contest

The Guidance Department is focusing on “Attitude of Gratitude” for the month of November. We are very thankful for the administration, staff and students here at CG. We decided to have a little fun with our principals, Mr. Calvelage who is an Ohio State fan and Mr. Best who is a Michigan fan. Mr. Best and Mr. Calvelage had a football throwing competition during lunch on Thursday, Nov. 18th to decide who will be the champion and who will have to wear the opposing teams shirt with pride! Mr. Best walked away with the Football Throwing Champion Title. Mr. Calvelage was a good sport and wore a Michigan shirt on Friday! All staff and students K-6 also wore their favorite OSU/Michigan attire Friday and decorated a paper football to display in the cafeteria to get ready for the Big Game over the holiday weekend. Watch the video here!
